An automatic staking withdrawal is described as gas-free: is someone asking you to pay to unlock it?

Distinguish Ethereum’s automatic sweeps from user-triggered transactions and provider-specific arrangements.

Identify which withdrawal process is involved

Ethereum’s current withdrawal guide says automatic withdrawal sweeps do not require the staker to submit a transaction or pay gas for that sweep. This is not a claim that every action connected with staking is free: manually triggered execution-layer withdrawals can require gas.

Check before accepting an unlock request

If a message demands a payment to another address to release an automatic sweep, verify it through the official tools and your established service channel rather than following the message. Do not send a recovery phrase or private key to someone offering to help. An address with no known risk flag is not proof that the demand is genuine.

Keep pooled services separate

The official guide tells users of staking pools or staking tokens to check their provider’s arrangements. Those terms are not interchangeable with the protocol’s automatic sweep. coinscammercheck can help examine supported public address information; it cannot release staking funds or guarantee recovery.
