A transaction has a chain ID: that identifies a signing context, not a trustworthy recipient

EIP-155 explains replay protection; it does not certify the business behind an address.

Know what the field is for

EIP-155 introduces a chain ID into transaction signing to help distinguish transactions intended for different Ethereum-style chains. Its rationale is to avoid a transaction intended for one chain also working on another. It is a protocol protection, not a business identity check.

Do not infer the chain from the address alone

A familiar address format does not show where the intended transfer will happen. Check the network named by the wallet and the recipient’s verified payment instructions before signing. Do not use the historical list in an old proposal as a complete list of currently supported networks.

Keep the address check in its scope

coinscammercheck provides an address-only beta lookup and says automatic selection uses format rather than proof of chain activity. A correctly chosen chain and an absence of detected risk still do not establish that the payee or the proposed transaction is safe.
